If you are looking for a rare piece of history, THIS IS IT !!! A little history The 442 name was revived in 1985 on the G-body Oldsmobile Cutlass due to the demise of the of the 1983-1984 Hurst/Olds.
Oldsmobile wanted to continue to offer a performance oriented Cutlass model.
So the 442 name was brought back in 1985 and used the same 5.
0 L, LG8 V-8.
The shifter was mounted on the floor in a console and the F41 suspension package was included.
3,000 were produced the first year and sold quickly, 4,273 were produced in 1986, and 4,208 were produced in 1987.
All 1985 and 1986 442's used the Cutlass Salon base model and only the1987 used the Cutlass Supreme base model.
The 442 package included beefier drive train, 15X7 fully chrome with gold trim, manually inflated air shocks in the rear, special paint scheme (always silver at the bottom),with gold decal body stripe, dual snorkel air cleaner with chrome lid, mandatory A/C, and door panel 442 emblems.
1987 was the last year of the rear wheel drive 442 and the only year for the 120 MPH speedometer for G body cars.
Only 4208 were produced in 1987.
Of the 4208 produced only 1,111 came with the T-Tops.
Only roughly 277 were produced in this color.
Of the roughly 277 it is estimated that less than half or 138 had the blue interior, as the gray interior is much more commonly seen.
The 442's are far more rarer than the G-bodies offered by Buick, Chevy, or Pontiac.
This car was originally purchased in Maine.
The original owner owned and maintained the car until he passed away a few years ago.
This is an original paint car, adult owned and no wrecks ever.
That being said the car does have some blemishes in the paint, but is 36 years old and in great shape for a survivor car.
I purchased the car from his estate about a year and a half ago.
I have put less than 250 miles on it since then.
It sits in a heated garage the rest of the time.
The car runs, drives, and stops just as a new 1987 would.
The A/C works great and was changed over to 134a last spring.
The tires are original with little tread wear, but there are some cracks along the tread lines.
To the best of my knowledge it is all original except for the battery.
I hate to sell it, but my health dictates the limited time I will be able to drive.
This is one of those cars that doesn't come around very often, if ever again.
I have all the original documentation; window sticker, bill of sale, and much more.
