Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in counseling, education, communication or related field preferred. Experience: Experience in student services at an institution of higher education is required; experience in residence life is preferred. Student employment experience will be considered. Experience that demonstrates a strong desire to work with a variety of people on a daily basis is required. Experience that demonstrates strong conflict resolution skills is required. Experience that demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills and strong management skills is required. Experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully work on and complete several projects at one time is required. Experience that demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities is required. Experience that illustrates a history of successfully collaborating with co-workers on a regular basis to achieve common goals is required. Mon- Fri 8AM- 4:30PM plus some evening, weekends and holidays as needed & scheduled on-call rotation.
Job Duties: The Residence Life Coordinator is directly responsible for the total administration of his/her assigned community and building. This includes developing and implementing the IWCC residence life programming model in their community. Iowa Western Community College is a learning community committed to excellence in meeting educational needs and improving the quality of life through programs, partnerships and community involvement. Residence Life Coordinators are responsible for creating a community that allows students to grow collectively and individually. The primary goal of this position is to establish an environment that is conducive to the academic and non-academic development of students. The Residence Life Coordinator maintains superior working relationships and communication within the department and with other college departments and personnel in order to carry out, with positive results, the mission of the college. Supports, interprets, implements and enforces College and departmental policies and procedures. Provides initial resident guidance, crisis/conflict management and mediation assistance for students. Refers residents to and consults with appropriate resource agencies within the college community in a timely fashion. Maintains a continual awareness of resident concerns through regular student contact. Promotes and ensures the Resident Assistants develop personal one-on-one relationships with residents through frequent individual meetings. Actively creates and implements an inclusive and supportive environment within residence life that contributes to students' personal and academic success. Promotes diverse and appropriate developmental activities to meet the needs of residents. Responsible for the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of Resident Assistants. Facilitates and provides on-going training of Resident Assistants through planned departmental and in-house staff activities and through daily supervision. Maintains effective desk operations through recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of desk staff. Reports to the Assistant Director of Residence Life, maintaining a good working relationship and communication with the Assistant Director, supporting him/her in carrying out the department's responsibilities and activities. Maintains ongoing written and verbal communication with college staff, students, and other relevant parties. Completes various reports in a timely manner. Responds to questions and concerns raised by parents of resident students. Functions as a team member within the department, as well as the division, in the delivery of quality services to students, administration, faculty, and others involved in the educational process within the scope of the department's resources and capabilities. Provides a safe and welcoming environment. Communicates with police and security regarding safety concerns. Serves as an advocate for quality management of residence hall facilities by reporting and following-up on maintenance issues with the appropriate facilities staff in a timely manner. Coordinates and conducts health and safety inspections. Facilitates the opening and closing of residence halls. Manages occupancy information, key inventory control, check-in and check-out processes and custodial needs. Coordinates intra-community moves and transfers. Accountable for the residence hall(s) programming and supplies budget. Responsible for tracking and submitting monthly student billing. When appropriate, works with the Council Bluffs Police Department, Campus Security, Student Success Department, and other agencies on Residence Life incidents. Follows-up with individual students and the community as appropriate. Coordinates summer camps and summer school activities and services in assigned area. Performs all other duties as assigned. Effective management and decision-making abilities are vital. Ability to supervise and manage student staff is required. Ability to effectively work with and advocate for students is critical. Ability to openly confront and appropriately respond to aggressive individuals is necessary. Ability to balance empathy with being firm in decisions is critical. Ability to identify and actively solve problems, both independently and as a member of a team, is critical. Ability to exercise superior judgment and discretion is required. Ability to organize time and tasks is essential. Ability to meet deadlines is required. Ability to learn and retain a wealth of information is critical. Attention to detail and ability to follow through independently are essential. Ability to balance the human relations and task aspects of the position is necessary. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, faculty, and staff is required. Ability to successfully and diplomatically work with co-workers to achieve common goals is critical. Ability to work as a contributing member of high-energy team in a fast-paced environment is a must. Ability to respond to students, faculty and staff with diplomacy and professionalism is required. Strong computer and advanced technological skills are necessary. Other Requirements: The Residence Life Coordinator is required to live in the apartment provided on-site. Hours will include day, evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Compensation includes an on-campus apartment with free utilities, local phone, and cable television as well as an Ethernet connection. The Residence Life Coordinator is required to be on an on-call rotation. During this week, the Residence Life Coordinator must be available 24 hours a day to respond to emergency situations in housing.
Salary Range: $28,000-30,000 annually

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
