We are in search of a Plant Safety Coordinator for our plant in Council Bluffs, IA.
This position reports to the Plant Manager.
This position gives you the opportunity to work on all aspects of the operation.
This is a hands position that offers a challenging work environment where independence and creative thinking are the norm.
Strong communication and collaboration with all levels of all the organization is important to ensure that the environmental and safety needs are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES Drive safety focused engagement activities Responsible for safety and environmental compliance programs, audits, gap analysis, corrective actions, training, and documentation.
Direct and facilitate the ongoing lean improvement process using techniques such as Standard Work, Kaizan events, 5S, Kanban, etc.
Responsible for all incident and near miss investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and follow up.
Plan, organize, lead, direct and run plant safety employee engagement and empowerment activities and programs including leading the plant safety committee.
Develop and implement training systems and tracker.
Develop and assist with training of and audits of safety compliance and work standards.
Confirm effectiveness of implemented actions.
Stay updated with Federal, State, and local safety laws.
Be a liaison for worker's compensation claims and eternal audit requests.
Build and Maintain an interdependent safety first culture Develop and maintain business unit and site specific safety program including safe work procedures, Job Safety Analysis, Hazard Assessments & Controls, machine operator safety training, and safety reviews and audits.
Develop and maintain a trusting relationship with workgroup as a servant leader for safety and continuous improvement.
Direct and document employee development and training around safety program and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Communicate company vision to all employees to provide a clear sense of direction and focus Monitor processes and track corrective actions to continually improve operation Develop and lead behavior based safety system and Risk Reduction Programs.
Stay up to date with latest environmental, safety, and health best practices and concepts QUALIFICATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS Engaging and upbeat personality Self-managed and driven work ethic 5
years' experience of lean and manufacturing experience with a work history demonstrating continuous advancement and improvement.
Experience in compliance programs and behavior based safety programs.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer, Environmental & Health Science, or related field.

years of Environmental, Health, and Safety program participation Training in lean production methods, problem solving, 5S, and Lean Methodology.
OSHA Safety (30-hour course) is required Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literacy, and a demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Office software Extensive hands-on Lean/Six-Sigma and Safety implementation experience Experience training and developing team members across an array of functional groups within a matrix organization Leadership approach that gathers input, develops people through teaching/coaching and utilizes a systematic approach to achieve objectives Strong analytical skills and process focused; progressive, flexible, and team-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate teams at all levels of the organization Ability to analyze complex situations involving diverse date and information; ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously Ability to anticipate, negotiate, and manage conflicts, problems, changing situations, and deadlines Ability to understand technical challenges and problem solve Ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex project plans Must have strong interpersonal skills, courage, and fortitude to speak up and address issues as needed.
Must be able to spend up to 50% of time on factory floor.
Must have organizational skills, attention to detail and multi- task.
Familiarity with Continuous Improvement concepts and methodologies.
